
ZAMBOANGA CITY – Zamboanga Peninsula has recorded 57,692 patients who have beaten the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), representing a 95.7 percent recovery rate since the start of the pandemic over two years ago.
Dr. Cheryl Sarmiento, the Department of Health-Zamboanga Peninsula medical officer, said Wednesday the region has recorded a cumulative 60,248 Covid-19 cases since March 2020.
Since then, the region has 57,692 recoveries, 31 active cases, and 2,525 deaths.
Of the total confirmed cases, Zamboanga City topped the list with 28,411, followed by Zamboanga del Sur, 13,812; Zamboanga del Norte, 11,570; Zamboanga Sibugay, 4,855; and Isabela City, 1,600.
In terms of recoveries, Zamboanga City recorded the highest with 27,249; Zamboanga del Sur, 13,304; Zamboanga del Norte, 10,971; Zamboanga Sibugay, 4,629; and Isabela City, 1,539.
“Currently, however, Zamboanga City tallied the highest number of active cases with 21,” Sarmiento said.
She said Zamboanga del Sur trailed in having active cases with seven; Zamboanga Sibugay, two; Zamboanga del Norte, one; and Isabela City, zero.
On the total number of deaths, Zamboanga City listed 1,141; Zamboanga del Norte, 598; Zamboanga del Sur, 501; Zamboanga Sibugay, 224; and Isabela City, 61. (PNA)
