CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Some two former members and 24 sympathizers of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) have withdrawn their support from the communist terrorist organization in Nueva Ecija.

In his report on Wednesday, Brig. Gen. Matthew P. Baccay, regional director of the Police Regional Office-Central Luzon (PRO-3), said the two rebels identified as Ka Trixie, 60 years old, a former member of the CPP-NPA's Arcadio Peralta command, and “Kaka”, 52, a member of Militia ng Bayan under Komiteng Larangang Guerilla (KLG) Sierra Madre voluntarily surrendered to authorities in on Tuesday.

Baccay said Ka Trixie also yielded a .22-caliber firearm without a serial number when he surrendered in Nampicuan town. Kaka turned himself in to authorities in Cabanatuan City.

Likewise, he said 24 members of Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) and Alyansang Mangbubukid sa Gitnang Luzon (AMGL) under the Kilusan ng Magsasaka ng Pilipinas (KMP) surrendered to elements of the 1st Platoon 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and other partner units in Barangay San Felipe, Llanera town on Wednesday.

“The unremitting efforts of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) have been the contributory factors for the continuous surrender of more active and former members of communist terrorist groups and the withdrawal of support of their sympathizers,” Baccay said in a statement.

The CPP-NPA is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Philippines.

The National Democratic Front (NDF) has been formally designated as a terrorist organization by the Anti-Terrorism Council on June 23, 2021, citing it as “an integral and inseparable part” of the CPP-NPA created in April 1973. (PNA)
