LAOAG CITY – Students and employees of the government-run Mariano Marcos State University can now enjoy a more reliable internet on campus with the "Free Wi-Fi for All" initiative of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

"Being one of DICT's activated sites, we now have more access points located at the university's main Library and Center for Flexible Learning in Batac Campus; College of Teacher Education in Laoag Campus; and, College of Agriculture, Food and Sustainable Development in Dingras,” MMSU president Shirley Agrupis said on Thursday.

Agrupis said users may connect to the "Free Wi-Fi for All" hotspot in the said locations to enjoy a good speed internet connection.

According to the DICT, the MMSU is the first of 24 state universities and colleges beneficiaries in Region 1 to be activated with free internet in an effort to give Filipinos access to opportunities, education, and information, and the ability to participate in the growing digital economy.

"The said newly activated sites are just a portion of the more than 8,900 Free Wi-Fi For All sites nationwide,” said the DICT in a statement. (PNA)
