DUMAGUETE CITY – The Dumaguete City Council on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution citing three local archers who earned gold medals for the Philippines during the recently-concluded 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The resolution for commendation and due recognition was given to Pia Elizabeth Angela Bidaure, Gabrielle Monica Bidaure, and Phoebe Nicole Amistoso, all residents of this city, during the regular session of the city council.
This is one way of recognizing local constituents’ outstanding performance and achievements in sports and competitions, locally and internationally, the resolution said.
The trio of the Philippine team topped the Archery Women’s Team Recurve Competition during the SEA Games in Vietnam from May 12 to May 23.
They were coached by Clint Sayo and Purita Joy Mariño.
Vice Mayor Karissa Faye Tolentino Maxino read the resolution, which says in part: “Such an exceptional feat deserves to be praised for having brought much pride and honor not only to the winning delegates, to their families, to their coaches, but also the city of Dumaguete, the province of Negros Oriental, and the entire country as well."
