TUGUEGARAO CITY – Regional police records show 105 police officers have been dismissed due to various infractions since internal cleansing was initiated in 2016, a Cagayan Valley police official said on Friday.

Lt. Col. Efren Fernandez II, Cagayan Valley police spokesperson, said the dismissal from service indicates that the organization does not condone the erring works and violations of law.

Records from the regional police’s Discipline Law and Order Section showed 41 police officers were dismissed from the regional police office; 18 in Cagayan; 11 in Isabela; 10 in the Santiago City station; nine in Nueva Vizcaya; six at the Regional Headquarters Support Group; five at the Regional Mobile Force Battalion; four in Quirino; and one in Batanes.

The dismissal came after a “due process” with notice and hearing. The accused police officers were given a chance to clear their names or air their side but will be removed or suspended if found guilty.

Those dismissed were found guilty of grave misconduct, grave neglect of duty, or absence without official leave, while others were removed for conduct unbecoming of an officer. (PNA)
