MANILA – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is ready to turn over its leadership to a new chief as the successor of the Duterte government is set to start its administration soon.
BI Spokesperson Dana Sandoval said the bureau, which is headed by Commissioner Jaime Morente, would cooperate with the administration of president-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“With the recently held election comes a new government, another government. So, we’re expecting your heads (of office) in most, or if not in all government agencies, to have new leadership,” Sandoval said at the Laging Handa briefing on Saturday.
She expressed hope that the new government would continue the programs that have been launched by the present leadership.
“Among us, we are ready to brief the incoming leadership,” Sandoval said.
“We hope that in the next few years, the improvements of the Bureau of Immigration that (had) been laid down in recent years will continue,” she said.
Morente was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to head the agency in July 2016.
