MANILA – CebGo's flights between Manila and Siargao, as well as Manila and Surigao were canceled on Monday due to bad weather in the destination, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) reported.

Canceled flights were CebGo (DG) flights 6881/6882 Manila-Surigao-Manila; and DG 6841/6842 Manila-Siargao-Manila.

Upon verification, the Philippine Airlines (PAL) also has scheduled flights between Manila and Siargao on Monday, but these have not been canceled as of 12:35 p.m.

PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said the flight to Siargao will leave Manila at 1 p.m., while a flight from Siargao will head for Manila at 3:30 p.m.

The weather bureau earlier forecast scattered rains over the Visayas and Mindanao due to the low pressure area (LPA) last located 225 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. However, it will cause cloudy skies and rains over the Visayas and Mindanao.

Aurelio advised residents of these areas to take precautions against possible flooding and landslides.

PAGASA also issued a yellow warning over Surigao del Sur and Surigao del Norte on Monday morning. This means rains may cause floods in low-lying areas and near rivers. (PNA)
