DAVAO CITY—Vice President-elect Sara Z. Duterte requested outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo for a virtual meeting to discuss ‘protocols and policies’ for their smooth transition.

In a statement Monday, Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco, spokesperson of Duterte, said Mayor Sara formally communicated with the Office of the Vice President for purposes of transition.

In a letter dated May 27, Duterte asked Robredo for an immediate meeting of their respective camps to discuss "protocols and policies" and other matters related to the Office of the Vice President.

“As can be gleaned from the letter-request of Inday Sara, the initial meeting sought will be between the teams, and not personally between the outgoing Vice President and the incoming Vice President,” Frasco said.

Frasco added that the Vice President-elect intended to undertake a smooth and orderly transition.

In the letter, Duterte said one of her senior staff, lawyer Zuleika Lopez, will be coordinating with Robredo’s office for the request.

“I wish to congratulate you on your achievements as the 14th Vice-President of the Republic of the Philippines,” Duterte told Robredo in the letter.

In response, Robredo said her office was "ready to meet and answer any questions you may have regarding the Office of the Vice President and to take all necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition.”

In a letter Monday, Robredo also congratulated Duterte for winning the vice presidency. (PNA)
