MANILA – A total of 3,854 wanted persons were arrested in Metro Manila from March 1 to May 29, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported Tuesday.

NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad, who took the helm in March replacing Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said intensified intelligence gathering and cooperation among its counterparts and regional offices resulted in the arrests.

He said 21 of the wanted persons in regions were nabbed by the Northern Police District, two by the Eastern Police District, one by Manila Police District, four by Southern Police District and four by Quezon City Police District.

"The invigorated implementation of manhunt operation by the different police districts of NCRPO is worthy of commendation and accolades. Gayunpaman, hindi ito magiging dahilan upang tayo ay tumigil bagkus lalo pa nating paiigtingin ang ating kampanya upang makasigurado na ang mga wanted sa batas ay hindi na makapangbiktima pa ng iba (However, this will not be a reason for us to stop but we will intensify our campaign to ensure that those wanted by the law do not victimize others)," Natividad said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Natividad also assured that personnel are provided with adequate health protection, including vaccines and boosters against Covid-19.

The latest data show that as of May 29, a total of 23,383 personnel were fully vaccinated, or 99.78 percent of the total police population in the NCRPO.

About 16 personnel have received their first dose and waiting for their second shot. A total of 36 personnel are unvaccinated due to their medical conditions. (PNA)
