MANILA – Only four national candidates in the May 9 polls have so far filed their Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Tuesday.

Acting Comelec Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said, as of May 30, one senatorial candidate and three Party-list groups have submitted their SOCEs.

Senatorial candidate Guillermo Eleazar, who almost made it to the Magic 12, submitted his SOCE before the poll body. Overall, he was in the top 16 with more than 11 million votes.

Those who complied with the requirement of Republic Act No. 7166, were party-list organizations Abono, Senior Citizen, and Bisaya Gyud.

There were a total of 46,193 candidates and 177 party-list organizations (with 929 nominees) that participated in this year's polls, including 10 for president, 9 for vice president, and 64 for senators.

As for the local positions, there were 690 aspirants for congressman, 259 for governor, 219 for vice governor, 1,891 for provincial board members, 4,316 for mayor, 3,824 for vice mayor, and 34,911 for councilors.

The law requires all candidates and treasurers of the political party to file within 30 days after election day their full, true, and itemized statement of all contributions and expenditures in connection with the elections.

Comelec Resolution No. 10695 said the last day for the filing of SOCEs is on June 8, 2022.

SOCEs of national candidates have to be filed at the Comelec main office in Intramuros, Manila while local candidates may file their SOCEs at the poll body office in their city/municipality. (PNA)
