MANILA – More than 40 million individuals are due to receive their booster doses of Covid-19 vaccines, a health official said Tuesday.

In an online media forum, the Department of Health - Health Promotion Bureau Director Beverly Ho said over 14 million have received their booster shots while more than 142,000 have been vaccinated with their second booster shot.

“As of May 30, more than 69.3 million Filipinos, 77 percent of our target population, have been fully vaccinated,” she said.

For the elderly population, about 6.7 million are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Meantime, almost 9 million of the immunocompromised population have completed the primary series of Covid-19 vaccine.

“We already have 2.7 million children ages 5 to 11 years old have received their primary series and almost 9.4 million adolescent population ages 12 to 17 years old are fully inoculated,” Ho added.

The DOH urges fully vaccinated individuals to receive their booster shots as additional protection against the threat of new variants. (PNA)
