MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) maintained that it strongly complies with all judicial standards regarding its illegal drug campaign.

"While the PNP respects the pronouncements made by other agencies or group regarding the illegal drug cases involving police personnel, this organization has maintained its position to adhere to the judicial system," PNP Public Information Office (PIO) chief Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba said in a statement Saturday.

He added that the PNP has always shown a willingness to cooperate in any proceeding by providing the necessary documents as properly requested by the courts or other investigating bodies.

"Internally, we also conduct our investigation whenever a police personnel is reported to have violated the law and/or code of conduct," Alba said.

For administrative cases, he said erring police officers are meted with penalties from suspension to dismissal from service.

"Rest assured that the PNP will take necessary actions by filing administrative and criminal cases against those personnel allegedly involved in illegal drugs," Alba said.

As this developed, National Capital Region Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Felipe R. Natividad said they are ready to provide necessary assistance to any proceedings required for an in-depth investigation on the war on drugs.

"In NCRPO, we constantly remind our personnel to always adhere to existing laws and PNP Directives otherwise they will have to face the consequences of their actions. Nonetheless, we ensure to run after and file charges against those who are proven to have committed violation during the war on drugs," Natividad said in a separate statement.

In their report, NCRPO soars high in the review of operational accomplishments in illegal drugs. For the period of March 1 – May 28, 2022, the anti-drug operatives under Natividad have confiscated a total of PHP629.9 million worth of illegal drugs.

"Despite however of all the shades faced, we will not stop and continue the momentum in the eradication of illegal drugs in the Metro, the long running societal problem of the region," he added. (PNA)
