MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Some 11,627 vacancies will be offered to Ilocos residents at the Independence Day jobs fair that will be held in different locations in the region.

In an interview on Tuesday, Department of Labor and Employment Ilocos Region information officer Justin Paul Marbella said most of the job vacancies are in customer service representatives, sales, retail, and construction, among others.

Of the total number, 8,213 are local employment vacancies while 3,414 are overseas under the 97 participating employers.

The Sunday job fair venues are in Candon Civic Center in Candon City, Ilocos Sur; CSI mall in the City of San Fernando, La Union; Nepo mall in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; and Don Leopoldo Sison Convention Center in Alaminos City, Pangasinan.

“The jobs fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. although an opening program will be conducted first,” he said.

Marbella said they are encouraging all interested job seekers to preregister for them to avail of the virtual pre-employment coaching to be given by DOLE for free.

“The virtual learning sessions will provide them with the right mindset of a successful job seeker. Aside from that, pre-registered applicants will also attain fast-lane access at the venue since they don’t have to fall in line for registration on the day of the fair,” DOLE Ilocos regional director lawyer Evelyn Ramos said in a statement Tuesday.

There are now 4,573 pre-registered job applicants as of June 7.

Interested job seekers may pre-register through these links: bit.ly/LUregistration for La Union; bit.ly/ISFOregistration for Ilocos Sur; bit.ly/CPFOregistration for Dagupan City; and bit.ly/WPFOregistration for Alaminos City.

Meanwhile, other government agencies will also be at the venue to provide one-stop assistance to jobseekers. (PNA)
