LEGAZPI CITY – The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO5) reported on Tuesday the arrest of 2,249 wanted persons and 15 criminal gang members from January to May this year as part of its intensified anti-criminality campaign.

In a statement, Brig. Gen. Mario Reyes, PRO5 director, said they strive to serve justice to crime victims by stepping up manhunt operations.

“The capture of these individuals is the product of our unrelenting commitment to providing the Bicolano the type of community that they deserve---a safe and progressive place where we get to see our future generation savor our efforts,” Reyes said.

The arrested individuals have been charged with various offenses.

PRO5 also stepped up its drive against criminal gangs, with 19 operations launched that led to the imprisonment of 15 fugitives, while one was killed.

“We would like to share the success of our operations with the community who play a vital role in the pursuit of our endeavors. Your support is truly a big factor that makes us go beyond what is expected. Take this as a promise that PRO5 shall remain limitless in doing its share to secure the safety and security of our people,” Reyes said. (PNA)
