SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ, Nueva Ecija – Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in this province will now have better opportunities to learn new technologies and innovations to make them more competitive.

This, as the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) based in this city forged Wednesday a partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Nueva Ecija to accelerate a learning program that will benefit MSMEs.

The program is for the implementation of engaging Food and Agricultural Resources Management (eFARM) Academy, a Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-funded program that aims, among others, "to provide learnings on how to address the needs of the community towards sustainable agriculture" amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

The MOA sealed a partnership between the CLSU and the DTI on the implementation of agro enterprise, provision of business counseling, and technology linkages to eFARM lifelong learners, specifically to registered MSMEs.

Richard Simangan, provincial director of DTI-Nueva Ecija, said on Thursday their objective is to extensively assist MSMEs regardless of the circumstances and constraints.

“The eFARM Academy project perfectly fits this objective with the learning materials being uploaded on various social media platforms and being easily accessible by the MSMEs,” he said.

Simangan said the collaboration would position the DTI-Nueva Ecija as a “middle man” between CLSU eFARM Academy and MSMEs to ensure the productive adoption of the technologies.

Under the agreement, the CLSU shall offer online class modules on food and agri-fishery technologies it has developed and conduct a training workshop showcasing the existing food and agri-fishery technologies.

The university will also provide various food processing and preservation techniques and culinary applications highlighting its agri-fishery fishery technologies and capacitating learners to become entrepreneurs. It will also issue certificates of completion and recognition to the successful enrollees.

As a partner, the DTI will assist in promoting the online class modules offered by the eFARM Academy, select qualified beneficiaries, ensure that the MSMEs will complete the course, and extend continuous business counseling services and technology linkages to completers.

"This will benefit MSMEs," Simangan said. (PNA)
