CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Minimum wage earners in Central Luzon will receive an increase in their daily pay effective June 20.

Wage Order No. RBIII-23 mandates a PHP40 increase in the daily minimum wage of workers in private establishments in the region.

Geraldine Panlilio, regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and chairperson of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Central Luzon (RTWPB-3), said on Tuesday the PHP40 increase will be given in two tranches.

“The first PHP30 upon the effectivity of the wage order which will be on June 20, 2022, and another PHP10 effective on January 1, 2023,” Panlilio said in a statement.

Under the new wage order, minimum earners in Central Luzon in the non-agriculture category and establishments with more than 10 workers will receive a PHP450 basic pay per day.

Employees working in the non-agriculture category and establishments with less than 10 workers will have a PHP443 basic pay per day.

Under the agriculture category, the new wage hike for plantation and non-plantation workers will be PHP420 and PHP404, respectively.

For the retail or service category, the daily minimum wage in establishments with 10 or more workers will be PHP439 while PHP425 in establishments with less than 10 workers.

This new wage hike adjustment applies for minimum wage earners in the provinces of Pampanga, Tarlac, Bulacan, Zambales, Bataan and Nueva Ecija.

For the province of Aurora, the daily minimum wage rate for the non-agriculture category will be PHP399.

The daily minimum wage of plantation workers in agriculture establishments will be PHP384, and PHP372 for non-plantation workers.

Meanwhile, workers in retail and service establishments will receive a daily minimum wage of PHP334.

Another PHP10 hike on top of the additional PHP30 increase across all industries and provinces in the region will be effective on January 1, 2023.

"Kasambahay" or domestic workers in Central Luzon will also receive an increase in their monthly wage effective June 20. Under Wage Order No. RBIII-DW-03, their new monthly wage in chartered cities and 1st class municipalities is PHP5,000 while PHP4,500 in other municipalities.

Panlilio said the new wage order is a result of the RTWPB-3’s consultations with labor and management representatives from different industries in most parts of the region.

She said during the deliberation, the board considered the prevailing socio-economic conditions in the region, positions of all interested parties, results of the public hearings, the capacity of the employers to pay, needs of workers and their families, and productivity of business enterprises.
