BACOLOD CITY – Anti-drug operatives seized two kilos of suspected shabu during a buy-bust in a safehouse in Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City in northern Negros Occidental on Tuesday.
Authorities said suspect Rex Baron, 49, was identified as the caretaker of the place in Sitio Tul-ang, where the operation was launched at around 4:45 a.m., according to the report of San Carlos Component City Police Station.
Police tagged Baron, a newly identified drug personality from Fatima Village, as a high-value individual.
In a statement, Brig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo, director of Police Regional Office-Western Visayas (PRO-6), commended the operating personnel for the successful operation.
“This accomplishment speaks of your commitment and dedication to our campaign against illegal drugs,” he said.
During the operation, the suspect sold PHP6,600 worth of suspected shabu to an undercover police officer.
Operatives also found in his possession eight heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and two green plastic packs containing the same prohibited substance.
Pegged at PHP6,800 per gram, the seized illegal drugs were valued at PHP13.6 million.
Baron, who is detained in the city police’s custodial facility, will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
