MANILA – A group of private hospitals recommended to the incoming administration National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 medical adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa as the next health secretary.

“Hopefully, siya po ang tanggapin ni President-elect [Ferdinand "Bongbong"] Marcos na siya pong gawing Secretary of Health… Ang amin pong nire-recommend ay si (he is the one President-elect Marcos accepts and make him the Secretary of Health…We have recommended) Dr. Ted Herbosa," Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines president Dr. Jose Rene de Grano said in a televised public briefing Thursday.

Herbosa was a Department of Health Undersecretary from 2010 to 2015.

He is also the Executive Vice President of the University of the Philippines System from 2017 to 2021.

De Grano said it would be best for Marcos to name the new Health Secretary before his administration begins in two weeks.

“And then, ang inaasahan po namin, siyempre, kami sa hanay ng medical community ay iyon pong open at makatutulong sa ating mga doctors, sa ating hospitals at saka sa different healthcare facilities po (we’re hoping, of course, from our side in the medical community, someone who is open and can help doctors, in our hospitals and the different healthcare facilities),” he added.
