SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Antique provincial office has reminded outgoing officials to cooperate for a smooth transition of power as May 9 polls winners in the province prepare for their inaugurations.

DILG Antique provincial director Cherryl Tacda said in an interview Friday the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOO) of the 18 towns in the province are now assisting the transitions teams to ensure that there will be a proper turnover of documents, among others, before the inaugurations.

“We had long been reminding the outgoing officials to have themselves cleared of their responsibilities and accountabilities before leaving their offices,” she said.

Tacda said as of Friday, local winning candidates have filed their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) so that they could assume their elective positions.

Filing of the SOCE is a requirement for both the elective candidates and the outgoing officials who ran during the last elections.

But Comelec has allowed only the elective candidates to file their SOCE even beyond the June 8 deadline provided they comply on or before June 30 so they could assume their positions.

Meanwhile, third and last termer Governor Rhodora Cadiao said in an earlier interview that they will have their simultaneous inaugurations with the municipal level candidates in the southern towns of the province on June 27 and similar event for the northern towns on June 28.

Senator-elect Loren Legarda, the outgoing congresswoman of Antique, will also join the local officials in the inauguration.

“We used to only have one inaugural at the capitol ground, but this time we are going to have two so that the people in the north could also be given chance to witness it,” Cadiao said. (PNA)
