BACOLOD CITY – The Negros Occidental Provincial Legal Office (PLO) is investigating the alleged questionable practices of three medical doctors and two other health workers in two district hospitals in the province.

Provincial legal officer Alberto Nellas Jr. said on Friday the cases were referred to them by the Department of Health (DOH), which received two complaints filed by patients regarding the alleged incidents.

“The complainants coursed their complaint through the DOH. The DOH referred it to the province, and it was forwarded to us for immediate action. This concerns two separate complaints,” he told reporters.

The concerned personnel, which were unnamed by the provincial government, are assigned to the hospitals in Isabela town and La Carlota City.

Being investigated are the alleged behavioral issues and irregular transactions involving the subjects of the complaints, Nellas said.

“The PLO formed a fact-finding investigation and will make recommendations,” he added.

The two physicians in Isabela are facing a complaint regarding their supposed improper conduct towards the patient.

In La Carlota, the two personnel allegedly conspired in committing an irregular practice and the physician was involved due to command responsibility.

“We cannot divulge (more details) since these are still under investigation,” Nellas said.

He added that the PLO gathered pieces of evidence from both sides and conducted a preliminary investigation.

“From there, we will give recommendations to the Investigation Committee for Public Health Workers,” the PLO chief said. (PNA)
