DAVAO CITY – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority in Davao Region (PDEA-11) has recorded some PHP19.7 million worth of confiscated illegal drugs from January to May 2022.

In a press briefer Wednesday, PDEA-11 Director Aileen Lovitos said this accomplishment resulted in the regional anti-drug agency being recognized as the most accomplished in the country.

“(Due to) our operations and initiatives, we were recognized as the top-performing regional office in the country. This includes our anti-illegal drug activities that resulted in the seizure of some 52,275 grams of illegal drugs since January with a street value of PHP19,7 million,” Lovitos said.

The confiscated illegal drugs consisted of shabu, marijuana, and ecstasy pills, she said.

Along with the national award for PDEA-11, Lovitos was also named with the best performing regional director for 2021 during the recognition ceremony on June 7 in Quezon City.

Lovitos credited the awards for their consistent information drive among schools and workplaces in the region.

She also cited Citing Davao City's Ordinance No. 0506-13, which mandates all establishments to craft a drug-free workplace policy and program, including PDEA-supervised random drug testing.

Lovitos said the local measure has helped PDEA-11 implement its anti-illegal drug initiatives.

Ronaldo Rivera, the Davao City Anti-Drug Abuse Council operations officer, said over 4,000 local business establishments have already produced their drug-free workplace policy and program. (PNA)
