MANILA – The coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) situation in Quezon City is now at a moderate risk level after the number of its daily average cases increased.
To combat the further spread of Covid-19, the city government has been stepping up its vaccination program.
As of Thursday, it was reported that 2,490,179 adults and minors in the city are now fully vaccinated after receiving two doses of the Covid-19 jabs or the single-dose Janssen vaccine.
The total Covid-19 vaccine doses it administered is now 6,025,598.
Of the number, 2,266,124 adults and 376,059 minor children 5 to 17 years old, with or without comorbidities, have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine while 1,022,321 have received their booster shot.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the city government said data provided by the Octa Research Group showed that the number of its Covid-19 daily average cases rose to 50 from 32 last week.
The city’s positivity rate also increased to 4.0 from 3.0 percent last week.
The positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who actually yields positive result from among those tested for Covid-19.
From 1.91 last week, the city’s Reproduction Number (RO) also rose to 2.20 this week.
The reproduction number shows the severity of Covid-19 cases, and an RO lower than 1 means that a confirmed Covid-19 patient has a lower chance of causing another infection.
As of Wednesday, the city government recorded a total of 429 or 0.16 percent of Covid-19 active cases.
This is a 15-percent increase from the city’s recorded active cases on June 19, which were 365.
The current number of recoveries is 261,019 or 99.18 percent, while the number of deaths is at 1,732 or 0.66 percent.
The city government continues to remind its citizens strictly follow the minimum health protocols, such as wearing of face masks, frequent hand washing or sanitizing, avoiding confined, crowded and close-contact settings, and avail of the Covid-19 vaccine and booster shots. (PNA)
