MANILA – A measure dividing Barangay Pasong Putik in Quezon City into three distinct and independent barangays has lapsed into law without the signature of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Republic Act No. (RA) 11803 divides Barangay Pasong Putik into Barangay Pasong Putik Proper, Barangay Greater Lagro, and Barangay North Fairview.
Barangay Pasong Putik Proper is bounded on the north by Caloocan City and Quezon City boundary; on the east by Belfast Street, Caloocan City and Quezon City boundary; on the west by Kaligayahan/New Haven and Teresa Heights boundary; and on the south by Quirino Highway, Mindanao Avenue.
Barangay Greater Lagro is bounded on the north by Quirino Highway; on the east by the MWSS Reservoir; on the west by Belfast Street, Mindanao Avenue, Barangay Sta. Monica and Barangay Pasong Putik Boundary; and on the south by a creek, D.B.T. Marbay/Lagro Subdivision boundary.
Barangay North Fairview is bounded on the north by D.B.T. Marbay/Lagro Subdivision Boundary; on the east by Lagro Subdivision, Tullahan Creek; on the west by Barangay Sta. Monica and North Fairview Subdivision boundary; and on the south by Barangay Fairview and Tullahan Creek.
Under the law, the plebiscite conducted and supervised by the Commission on Elections will serve as substantial compliance with the plebiscite requirement under Section 10 of RA No. 7160 otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991.
Incumbent barangay officials of Barangays Pasong Putik Proper, Greater Lagro, and North Fairview will continue to hold office until such time that their successors have been duly elected and qualified.
All public infrastructure and facilities for public use existing at the time of the approval of this act will continue to be owned and administered by the barangays created under Section 1 of this act.
Barangays Pasong Putik Proper, Greater Lagro, and North Fairview will be entitled to an allotment derived from national taxes pursuant to Section 285 of RA 7160.
RA 11803, was passed by the House of Representatives on Sept. 14, 2021, amended by the Senate on Jan. 31, 2022, and which amendment was concurred in by the House on Feb. 2, 2022.
Meanwhile, another measure renaming the municipality of Rodriguez in the Province of Rizal as the Municipality of Montalban also lapsed into law on June 2.
RA No. 11812, which repeals Batas Pambansa Blg. 275, entitled “An Act Changing the Name of the Municipality of Montalban, Province of Rizal, to the Municipality of Rodriguez”, lapsed into a law on June 2 without the signature of the President.
“The renaming of the Municipality of Rodriguez as Municipality of Montalban shall be effective upon ratification of the majority of votes cast by qualified voters in a plebiscite to be conducted and supervised by the Commission on Elections in the present Municipality of Rodriguez,” RA No. 11812, which repealed Batas Pambansa Blg. 275, read.
Expenses for the plebiscite will be carried by the Municipality of Rodriguez.
The law was passed by the House on March 17, 2021, amended by the Senate of the Philippines on Jan. 31, 2022, and which amendments were concurred in by the House on Feb. 2, 2022.
Several laws establishing district offices of the Land Transportation Office and central multi-species marine hatcheries also lapsed into law. (PNA)
