DAVAO CITY –  The Davao Covid-19 Task Force has reminded Dabawenyos anew to strictly observe the proper wearing of face masks after the virus positivity rate here slightly rose to 4.5 percent.

In a statement Wednesday, the Covid-19 Task Force said there is a need to observe the minimum health protocol as 18 people turned out positive for the virus out of the 396 persons tested.

As of June 26, the city has recorded 80 active cases.

Since March 2020, the city tallied a total of 72,621 Covid-19 cases, with 70,540 recoveries, and 2,000 deaths.

The city has been under Level 1 as Covid-19 cases remained low since March this year.

“The city is categorized as low risk for the third straight week (this month) and there have been no critical and high-risk barangays for 17 straight weeks already,” the task force said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health in Davao Region (DOH-11) said the region's healthcare utilization for non-intensive care unit bed use stood at 27 percent as of June 27.  ICU bed use stood at 26.1 percent.

The DOH-11 bulletin also showed that only 48 out of 416 Covid-19 admissions region-wide are severe and critical.

It noted that 111 new cases were recorded in the past week which is higher by 100 percent than the cases reported in the previous weeks.

There was zero Covid-19-related death during the past seven days, the agency said.

To date, about 3,191,264 individuals or 72.6 percent of the target population in the Davao Region are fully vaccinated. (PNA)
