MANILA – President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday night shared on Facebook the photos of the barongs he will be using on inauguration day Thursday.

In a post on his official account, Marcos said he will be wearing barongs designed by multi-awarded designer Pepito Albert.

“Ang aking barong na isusuot sa inagurasyon na idinisenyo ni Pepito Albert ay hango sa rayadillo, ang tradisyunal na uniporme ng mga sundalo noong panahon ng mga Kastila (The barong I will be using during the inauguration designed by Pepito Albert is inspired by the rayadillo, the traditional military uniform in the Spanish era),” he said.

For the inauguration dinner, Marcos said he will also be wearing another barong made of piña fabric that is also designed by Albert.

“Para naman sa magaganap na salu-salo, isusuot ko ang barong na gawa sa tela ng piña na idinisenyo muli ni Pepito Albert sa bayan ng Taal, Batangas (For the party, I will wear another barong made of piña fabric, also designed by Pepito Albert in Taal, Batangas),” he said.

He said he will pair both barongs with shoes made by Sapatero Manila.

Meanwhile, Marcos said his wife, lawyer Liza Araneta-Marcos will be wearing a modern terno designed by Leslie Mobo.

“Mabusising pamamaraan ng paghahabi ang disenyo ng kanyang terno. Piña puro, Piña seda, at Piña suksuk ang mga telang ginamit dito. Ang buong kasuotan ay binurdahan ng Sampaguita, ang ating pambansang bulaklak (A meticulous weaving technique was done to design the terno. Piña puro, Piña seda, and Piña suksuk are the fabrics used here. The entire costume is embroidered with Sampaguita, our national flower),” he said.

His eldest son, Ilocos Norte First District Rep.-elect Ferdinand Alexander "Sandro" Marcos will be wearing a barong designed by Salvo Tailors.

Marcos' camp earlier held a barong-design contest to choose the "lucky designer" who will dress him at his inauguration.

His inauguration will be "very solemn and simple", according to Franz Imperial, who is one of the heads of the preparation committee for the event.

Several dignitaries are expected to attend Marcos' inauguration at the National Museum in Manila. (PNA)
