CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao – Thirty-one suspects, including wanted men, were arrested while 79 unlicensed guns were seized during simultaneous police operations in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Thursday.

The daylong Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) was implemented in the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi and the cities of Cotabato, Marawi and Lamitan.

“All those arrested were wanted persons and drug personalities that also held unlicensed guns,” Brig. Gen. Arthur Cabalona, BARMM police director, told reporters here Friday.

Cabalona said 10 wanted persons were nabbed based on arrest warrants issued by local courts.

Also, 21 drug personalities were collared during drug buy-bust operations that resulted in the recovery of some PHP715,000 worth of shabu.

“Police units also seized 79 assorted firearms and three fragmentation grenades during the operations,” he said.

Meanwhile, police arrested eight illegal logging suspects, resulting in the recovery of 4,800 board feet of illegally cut forest products with an estimated cost of more than PHP100,000.

Cabalona said the suspects are now detained at police custodial facilities in the region. (PNA)
