LAOAG CITY – Youth voters in this city continued flocking to the Commission on Election (Comelec) on Tuesday to register for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in December.

Julius Balbas, Comelec officer here, said voter registration is now on its second day and will run until July 23.

“Many new voters came here on Monday. The deadline for registration will be on July 23,” said Balbas in an interview Tuesday as he added that applications for registration must be filed personally.

For those who register for transfer, Balbas reminded applicants that they should meet the requirements of a six-month minimum residency.

The Comelec accepts applicants from Mondays to Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In an interview with the Philippine News Agency, some of the newly registered voters expressed excitement over the upcoming barangay and SK polls.

“I registered early to ensure that my voice will be heard in the next election. With just one vote, I may be changing the course of history,” said Christian Galvez, 19, from Laoag City. (PNA)
