MANILA – Members of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confiscated more than PHP109 million worth of illegal drugs in a series of operations in two days, its chief said on Wednesday.

In a statement, NCRPO chief, Maj. Gen. Natividad said on Monday, the Manila Police District (MPD) Station, together with operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), arrested Chinese nationals Bin Hi, 42, and Jiankang Lang, in Barangay 720, Malate, Manila at about 6:45 p.m.

At about 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Caloocan City Police Station launched a buy-bust operation in Barangay 176, Bagong Silang, which resulted in the arrest of suspects Marvin dela Cruz and Pauline Garlit.

Records showed that the police operation stemmed from information about dela Cruz, a member of the Jamal criminal gang, and his cohort who were conducting illegal drug transactions in the area.

Recovered from their possession were 40 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP272,000.

On the same day at about 2:10 a.m., five suspects identified as Gina Rubino, Rexon Reyes, Francis Caunar, Glenn Bacongallo, and Jennifer Amarille, were apprehended by personnel of the Malabon Police Station along P. Aquino St. in Barangay Tonsuya.

Seized from them were about 18 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP122,400.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Southern Police District (SPD) arrested eight suspects at No. 645 Purok 9 PNR Site FTI Compound, Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig City at about 5 a.m.

The suspects were identified as Alfatha Sumandal, Norhadz Ali, Arnold Milgaril, Richard Manansala, Fernan Rodriguez, Paul John Rodriguez, Ernesto Pascual, and Tony Watamama, who yielded about 51 grams with an estimated street value of PHP346,800.

The NCRPO covers five districts – the MPD, QCPD, NPD, SPD, and Eastern Police District (EPD).

"Ang tagumpay (na) ito ay nagpapatunay na ang ating kapulisan ay patuloy na naglilingkod at nagtatrabaho ng walang pinipiling oras upang masawata ang mga nagbebenta at sources ng iligal na droga. Ang dedikasyon na ito laban sa iligal na droga ay magpapatuloy sa ating rehiyon (This success proves that our police continue to serve and work to curb drug traffickers and sources of illegal drugs. Our dedication to the fight against illegal drugs will continue in the NCR)," Natividad said. (PNA)
