137K registrants sign up for 2022 village, youth polls: Comelec

MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday said it has so far received over 137,000 voter registration applications, just days after the resumption of registration activities for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) set for December 5.

Citing the figures from the Election and Barangay Affairs Department (ECAD), acting Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said the number of new registrants as of July 5 has reached a total of 137,363.

Of the number, 77,508 are 15 to 17 years old, who can only vote for SK polls.

Meanwhile 50,113 are aged 18 to 30, who are eligible to vote for both barangay and SK polls.

The number also included 9,742 applicants aged 31 and above, who can only vote for the barangay polls.

The Comelec's nationwide consolidated daily report recorded 31,957 applicants for transfer from other cities/municipalities and 7,440 applications received from those who would like to transfer from within the same city/municipality.

There are also 1,548 applications for transfer with reactivation, 503 applications for transfer with reactivation and correction of entries, and 1,745 applications for transfer with correction of entries.

So far, a total of 11,147 have applied for reactivation while applications for reactivation with correction of entries are at 2,489.

Applications for change of names/correction of entries are 7,958 and applications for inclusion of record in the Book of Voters are 23.

A total of five applications for reinstatement of name in the List of Voters have so far been received while applications for transfer from overseas voting to local are at 649.

The ECAD data also revealed that the total number of all applications processed, as of Tuesday is 202,827.

The voter’s registration period started on July 4 and will run until July 23.

All Office of Election Officers (OEOs) nationwide are accepting applications from Mondays to Saturdays including holidays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (PNA)
