COTABATO CITY – City Mayor Mohammad Bruce Matabalao on Saturday named four deputy mayors who will serve as his advisers on issues and programs affecting four major sectors here.

These deputy mayors will form part of the Council of Leaders in the city.

The four deputies were as follows: former city councilor Hadji Abdullah Andang, deputy mayor for Muslims; Art Thomas Calingasan, deputy mayor for Christians; Jun Panalag, deputy mayor for Indigenous Peoples; and, businessman Ongpin Yu Ekey, deputy mayor for the Chinese community.

“They will serve as my advisers,” said Matabalao, who won the mayoralty race on May 9, under the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), the political party of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

As someone belonging to the UBJP, Matabalao vowed to listen to all sectors when coming up with major policy decisions in the city.

He vowed to always be a mayor for all, regardless of the residents’ political affiliation, religious belief, culture, and spiritual stance. (PNA)
