CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-Central Luzon has started doing on-site monitoring of higher education institutions (HEIs) in the region to determine their readiness for limited face-to-face classes this school year.

CHED Regional Director Leonida Sigua-Calagui said on Monday while the HEIs have been allowed to reopen their campuses for limited face-to-face classes, this would still depend on their readiness amid the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.

Sigua-Calagui said HEIs must comply with the requirements before they are allowed to start face-to-face classes.

She said the requirements include a permit from the Inter-Agency Task Force.

She likewise said part of CHED’s on-site monitoring is the evaluation of the HEI’s learning continuity plans (LCPs), and Student Affairs Services (SAS) delivery programs.

Sigua-Calagui assured that CHED will provide technical assistance to colleges and universities in the implementation of limited face-to-face classes.

“The CHED-Central Luzon remains its partner in delivering quality higher education in the region,” she said in a social media post.

So far, the CHED has done on-site monitoring of the HEIs in Aurora and Olongapo City, including the Aurora State College of Technology (main campus and the extension campuses), Mount Carmel College (Baler and Casiguran campuses), Wesleyan University-Philippines (Maria, Aurora campus), Lyceum of the East (Maria Aurora), and the UP School of Health Sciences (Baler campus).

In Olongapo City, the HEIs visited were The Manila Times College, Mondriaan Aura College, College of Subic Montessori, AMA-Olongapo City, Columban College, and St. Joseph College-Olongapo. (PNA)
