MANILA – The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) is now looking for a new head.

PPCRV chairperson emeritus Henrietta de Villa said Monday the election watchdog’s current head Myla Villanueva is leaving her post this month.

“Myla is stepping down by the end of July. She's leaving for abroad. We're still in search of the next chair. God is good. He'll direct us to a good one,” de Villa said in a text message.

On the other hand, Villanueva shared on her social media that her final responsibility as head of PPCRV was to present the group's activities this year at the 124th Plenary Assembly of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) last July 9.

“Here I discuss the years' work of our almost 600,000 inspiring volunteers of the PPCRV, the data, and recommendations on continued engagement with our youth. It was an honor and privilege to serve the most committed volunteers and citizens I will ever know,” the PPCRV chief added.

Aside from being one of the citizens' arms of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the May 9 polls, the group also conducted the unofficial count of the votes for national positions in the last elections.

At the same time, Villanueva expressed gratitude to all the people she was able to work with, stakeholders, and volunteers.

“I could not have done this job well without guidance from our Lord, most of all. Thank you to all of you, and our partners who have been part of this unique and incredibly satisfying and meaningful journey,” she said.

Villanueva started her term as head of PPCRV in 2019. (PNA)
