2nd booster doses reach 42K Manila residents

MANILA – The city government of Manila has administered over 40,000 doses of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) second booster jabs as of Monday.

The Covid-19 second booster shot is offered to health care workers, senior citizens, and immunocompromised adults.

As of 5 p.m. Monday, 42,181 have received their second booster shots while 637,817 have the first booster dose, which is allowed for those aged at least 12 years and five months after the completion of the primary doses.

Overall, 3,4812,339 vaccine doses have been administered by the Manila Health Department.

Of the total, 1,722,046 are fully vaccinated.

Quezon City, on the other hand, reported that as of July 9, a total of 6,139,02 doses -- first and second dose and booster shots -- have been administered.

Included are 2,523,219 who are fully vaccinated.

As of Sunday, Quezon City has 844 active Covid-19 cases while Manila has 72 active infections as of Monday. (PNA)
