MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. presided over his second Cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning via teleconference, just four days after testing positive for Covid-19.

Malacañang has yet to release a statement on what was discussed during the meeting, but Marcos shared photos of the meeting on his official Facebook and Twitter accounts.

“Kahit pangkasalukuyan tayong naka-isolate, patuloy ang ating mga pagpupulong at iba pang tungkulin sa pamamagitan ng internet (Although we are currently isolated, our meetings and other duties continue through the internet),” he said in a caption which accompanied the photos he shared on his social media accounts.

Marcos also emphasized the need to improve the country’s information and communications technology infrastructure.

“Marami ang maitatawid na komunikasyon sa matibay at mabisang digital infrastructure na siya ring sinisikap nating pagandahin pa (There is a lot of communication that can be done with a strong and effective digital infrastructure that we are also trying to improve),” he added.

In a separate statement, Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra said the Cabinet meeting tackled “heavy” topics and started “promptly” at 9 a.m.

“The Cabinet meeting started promptly at 9:00 a.m. the agenda is quite heavy (budget, infra, transpo, industry, tourism, etc). I think we will end at around 1:30 p.m,” he told reporters in a message.

Guevarra said Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles will announce the highlights of the Cabinet meeting.

On Monday, the President’s lead physician, Dr. Samuel Zacate, said Marcos “is on his way to a complete recovery” after contracting Covid-19 last Friday.

“This fast recovery is expected from a fully vaccinated individual with a good health status, and a history of great resilience against all adversities just like our President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,” Zacate said.

Zacate said Marcos had also recovered from his cough and was given additional medication to address “very mild nasal stuffiness and nasal itchiness.” Other medicines were advised to be continued.

He noted that results of Marcos’ examination indicate that “his vital signs are all were within normal limits and exemplary.” (PNA)
