Vietnam sets semis date with Filipinas after rout of Myanmar

MANILA – Vietnam sealed a showdown with the Philippines in the semifinals of the AFF Women's Championship after drubbing Myanmar, 4-0, on the final night of the group stages on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium here.

Huynh Nhu's brace highlighted Vietnam's blowout that secured the team the top seed for Group B while sending Myanmar to the second seed and a semifinal date with Thailand.

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung sparked Vietnam's attack with a 16th-minute goal before Huynh achieved her brace.

Huynh first converted a penalty in the 36th minute before closing the first half with her second goal for the 3-0 count.

Pham Hai Yen sealed Vietnam's win with an 89th-minute goal.

Myanmar will face Thailand in the first semifinal at 4 p.m. Friday before Vietnam takes on the Filipinas in the nightcap at 8 p.m. (PNA)
