MANILA – At least four domestic flights were canceled on Monday due to bad weather, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) reported.

Canceled flights were CebGo (DG) 6177/6178 Manila - Masbate - Manila; and PAL Express (2P) flights 2993/2994 between Manila and Zamboanga.

Earlier, the weather bureau forecast scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Zamboanga Peninsula and Bicol Region due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

Past 11 a.m., the bureau said a low pressure area (LPA) was spotted 25 kilometers northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar.

Although the LPA is less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone, the bureau said the combined effects of the LPA and “habagat” will cause light to moderate to at times heavy rains over Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi Tawi.

No other flight was canceled as of 12:08 p.m., according to MIAA. (PNA)
