LAOAG CITY – The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), in partnership with the Ilocos Norte government, announced Monday that a mobile outreach service for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) is set on July 27 at the Robinsons mall activity center in San Nicolas town.

For the first time, the San Fernando-based team of the POEA will be coming to Ilocos Norte to provide a one-stop-shop service for OFWs here, Anne Marie Lizette Atuan, head of the Provincial Public Employment Office, said in a phone interview.

“For those who will be needing an OEC (overseas employment certificate), they may just come on the said date to process their documents,” she said.

For individuals who are not qualified for the online OEC processing and exemption, the POEA is requiring applicants to avail themselves of the online appointment system.

"This forms part of simplifying government services and making it more convenient for Filipinos to secure documents for employment,” she added.

Ilocos Norte is among the first local government units that initiated partnerships with national government agencies like POEA for mobile outreach programs.

Instead of traveling to the nearest regional offices of POEA in San Fernando City, OFWs in Ilocos Norte and neighboring provinces of Ilocos Sur who need to secure OEC and other POEA services may avail of the scheduled mobile service. (PNA)
