CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – Governor Daniel Fernando on Wednesday called on Bulakenyos to get their booster shots as the province faces another upward trend in the number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.

Fernando said while the rise of Covid-19 cases is not as alarming compared to neighboring areas, he urged his constituents not to be complacent.

“Huwag nang hintayin ang paglala ng sitwasyon ng Covid-19 bago tayo umaksyon. Bukas po ang ating mga vaccination sites upang makapagpa-booster tayo, at bigyan ang ating mga sarili ng karagdagang proteksyon laban sa Covid-19 (Let us not wait for the Covid-19 situation to get worse before we take action. Our vaccination sites are open to get booster shots. Let us give ourselves an additional protection against Covid-19),” he said in an interview.

In her report, Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Hjordis Marushka Celis said the provincial government has administered a total of 5,756,301 Covid-19 vaccines.

She also said 2,490,490 or 82.63 percent of the eligible population are now fully vaccinated but only 647,334 of them have received booster shots.

As of July 18, there were 660 active cases of Covid-19 in the province.

Meanwhile, Celis said the Bulacan Medical Center is implementing an appointment system to avoid the influx of people in the outpatient department. (PNA)
