MANILA – Officials of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Wednesday welcomed the appointment of Danilo Cruz as the new head of the agency.

"We welcome the appointment of Mr. Danilo P. Cruz as the 13th Director General of the agency. We likewise thank President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. for tapping Mr. Cruz to lead TESDA and implement his priority programs such as those for agriculture and languages," TESDA Deputy Director General for TESD Operations Aniceto Bertiz III said.

The Office of the Press Secretary confirmed former Labor official’s appointment as the new TESDA chief.

Bertiz noted that since Cruz was a former Undersecretary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), his expertise will surely be beneficial in strengthening the technical vocational education and training (TVET) across the country.

TESDA-National Capital Region Director Florencio Sunico said Cruz's experience in DOLE will help boost employment among TESDA graduates.

"In my opinion, this will be (beneficial). Because among the agency's main goal is for our (students) to be employed after training," Sunico said.

Meanwhile, Bertiz said they hope “Mr. Cruz will continue and build on the ongoing campaign of TESDA to make TVET more accessible and relevant to Filipinos, and we are eagerly looking forward to working with him.” (PNA)
