CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The agriculture industry in Rizal, Nueva Ecija received a big boost from the completion of the rehabilitation works on local roads that resulted in an efficient movement of people, goods, and services.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) implemented the road projects in Rizal town’s four agricultural villages for a total cost of PHP19.3 million.

Nueva Ecija 1st Officer in Charge - District Engineer Armando Manabat said Thursday that residents of the villages of Casilagan, General Luna, Aglipay, and Maligaya are enjoying the benefits of the completed road concreting projects with a total length of 4.04 km.

Manabat said the road projects have significantly eased the struggle of residents in accessing basic services, such as health, education, and trade in goods and services.

“The development of local roads gives Rizal’s agricultural economy a big boost as it improves the transportation and trade of farm products. We have paved a total of 4.04 lane kilometers of roads, which is also expected to ensure the safe travel of the residents,” Manabat said in a social media post.

Meanwhile, Casilagan village chair Larry Engelito thanked the DPWH for the completion of new road projects that could help farmers reduce the expenses of transporting their products to the buyers.

“The newly rehabilitated roads make the transport and delivery of goods and farm produce faster. As a result, the profit and livelihood for our farmers will greatly improve,” Engelito said.

Likewise, he said rescuers could now easily reach their barangay in case of an emergency.

Carlito Tuazon, a 54-year-old farmer in Barangay Maligaya, said they are motivated to plant more due to the more efficient market access.

“Bukod sa naging maayos na pag-transport ng aming mga ani patungo sa mga pamilihan, mas madali na rin kaming maka-access sa mga basic services gaya ng health (Aside from the improved transport of our produce going to the markets, we can also easily access basic services, such as health),” Tuazon said in a text message.
