Authorities arrest ASG bandit in Zambo island-village

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police and military troops arrested in a raid an alleged Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandit Thursday in an island barangay east of the city.

Col. Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO)  director, said Janib Ilun, 42, was arrested around 9:59 a.m. in Barangay Landang Laum, Sacol Island.

Armed with an arrest warrant, Lorenzo said authorities launched the raid following a confirmed report that Ilun was in his hideout in the village.

Ilun has standing warrant of arrest for the murder with no recommended bail issued June 29, 2016 by a regional court here.

Ilun was temporarily detained at the ZCPO headquarters. (PNA)
