8 HVTs nabbed as drug den dismantled in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Authorities have dismantled a drug den and arrested eight high-value targets (HVTs) drug suspects in separate anti-drug operations in the Zamboanga Sibugay town of Ipil and this city over the weekend.

In a report Monday, Col. Albert Larubis, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, said five HVTs were arrested and a drug den was dismantled in an operation launched by police officers and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives at 3:40 p.m. Sunday in Purok Reservoir, Barangay Don Andres, Ipil town.

They were identified as Al-medzfar Aclaracion Abuales, 22; Boy Teves Navaro, 31; Jericho Ace Alejandro Ortiz, 23; Janmark Chora Rosales, 19; and, Zomiso Yañez Capillanes Jr., 31.

Confiscated from the suspects were some 10 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP68,000, assorted illegal drug paraphernalia, and PHP1,000 marked money.

Meanwhile, three other HVT drug suspects were arrested while some PHP680,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in an anti-drug operation Saturday afternoon at a pension house in Barangay San Jose Cawa-Cawa here.

City police chief, Col. Alexander Lorenzo, said authorities seized from the suspects as Kenneth Tan Pang, 43; Junior Usman Kirang, 33; and Bensal Jimenez Paradji, 29; 100 grams of suspected shabu, a cellular phone, and a sling bag. (PNA)
