SAN MANUEL, Pangasinan – The management of the San Roque Power Corporation (SRPC) has assured Pangasinenses that the San Roque dam incurred no damage amid the magnitude 7 earthquake on Wednesday.

In a letter to Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico III, SRPC vice president for corporate affairs Tommy Valdez said the structure remains strong and sturdy following the earthquake.

Nais po nating ipaalam sa lahat na ang ating San Roque Dam ay nananatiling matatag. Katunayan, sa atin pong visual inspection, wala pong nakita na anumang pagkasira or anumang indikasyon ng pagkasira (We would like to inform everyone that the San Roque Dam remains strong. In fact, based on our visual inspection, there was no damage or any indication of damage),” he said.

He added the SRPC and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of this town are monitoring and inspecting the whole structure.

Huwag po tayong mag-alala o mabahala at manatiling maingat at makiramdam sa mga pagyanig na maari pang mangyari (We should not worry or be anxious and stay safe and monitor possible aftershocks),” Valdez said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways Ilocos regional office said there were no reported major damage to the roads and bridges, as well as other infrastructure in Pangasinan.

Based on its report, all roads and bridges are passable and only the Hector Mendoza Bridge in Alcala town has incurred damage on its transverse expansion joint but it is still open to traffic.

Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office emergency operations center director Ron Castillo said there were no reported casualties and major infrastructure damage in the province.

“There were very, very small few cracks in the provincial capitol building but it is minor and aside from that, there were no other reported damage,” he said in an interview. (PNA)
