DAVAO CITY – The Davao City Covid-19 Task Force urged the residents Thursday to be truthful in reporting symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in order not to risk themselves and their fellow Dabawenyos.

The call came after the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) passed a resolution on July 24 containing new guidelines regarding home isolation and quarantine for fully vaccinated and partially vaccinated asymptomatic patients and close contacts.

In a radio interview, Dr. Michelle Schlosser, the city task force spokesperson, said the IATF resolution provided a set of much looser isolation protocols for asymptomatic but vaccinated individuals.

“We are urging everyone not to lie about your symptoms because you are not only putting yourself at risk, but also your loved ones, and your colleagues as well,” Schlosser said.

Under the resolution, partially vaccinated or unvaccinated asymptomatic close contact individuals will have to quarantine for at least 14 days from exposure.

She said fully vaccinated close contacts do not need to undergo quarantine if they show no symptoms.

“Only if they have no symptoms while in isolation applies to asymptomatic Covid-positive individuals,” Schlosser added.

Fully vaccinated asymptomatic Covid-19 patients will have to go through seven days of isolation starting from the day their test samples were collected.

“The same applies for positive or suspected cases of fully vaccinated individuals showing mild symptoms,” Schlosser said referring to the IATF resolution.

The isolation period of seven days starts from the onset of symptoms while 10 days of isolation is required for partially vaccinated or unvaccinated asymptomatic patients manifesting mild symptoms, with the countdown starting from the onset of symptoms.

Covid-positive or suspected individuals showing moderate symptoms, irrespective of vaccination status, will also have to undergo isolation for the same amount of time starting from the first day of the onset of symptoms.

Positive or suspected positive cases showing severe symptoms, regardless of their vaccination status, would be required a 21-day isolation period.

“The same applies for the immunocompromised individuals manifesting severe symptoms,” Schlosser said, adding that the isolation period will be counted starting from the first day symptoms were observed. (PNA)
