LEGAZPI CITY – The municipal health office of Camalig in Albay is eyeing better and quick response efforts to ensure healthy and safe maternity care.

Camalig Mayor Carlos Irwin G. Baldo Jr. said he is committed to improving proper health care facilities and services for pregnant women, highlighting the importance of proper health care with the end goal of safeguarding the well-being of the next citizens of the town.

The local government unit (LGU) plans to mobilize an emergency vehicle in the Cotmon Birthing Home to maximize quick response efforts, Baldo said in a social media post.

During the recent "Buntis Congress", which carried the theme "Alagang Nanay, Kaagapay sa New Normal na Buhay", the Camalig LGU distributed “Buntis kits” to pregnant women containing diapers, infant clothes, booties and mittens, and other infant care essentials.

The activity focused on raising awareness of a safe and healthy pregnancy, including proper nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, facility-based delivery, the first 1,000 days of the infant's life, and other important factors in conception and motherhood. (PNA)
