ZAMBOANGA CITY – Seven people have been arrested when police authorities seized illegal drugs with an estimated street value of PHP658,100 in separate anti-drug operations in the Zamboanga Peninsula region this week.
The biggest drug haul was on Tuesday when anti-drug police operatives seized 50 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP340,000 in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sangali, this city.
Police Col. Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office director, said arrested during the buy-bust operation in Sangali was Mary Joy Jailani, 42.
Also seized from her were a cellular phone and PHP500 marked money.
The second biggest drug haul was on Wednesday when policemen arrested two people and seized about 20 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP136,000 in Barangay Sta. Catalina, this city.
Lorenzo identified the arrested suspects in the Sta. Catalina anti-drug operation as Aldrian Salih, 21, and Dennis Elmi, 25.
Seized from the two suspects were PHP1,000 marked money and illegal drug paraphernalia.
In the third biggest drug haul, the police also seized two caliber .45 pistols with ammunition and explosives – two rifle grenades – when they arrested two people in an anti-drug operation in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur on Tuesday.
Police Col. Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur Police director, said seized in Tuesday’s anti-drug operation were about 15 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP102,000.
Arrested during the raid were Julius Jose Uyog, 42, and Rommel Requillas, 35, of Purok Magga, Barangay Tuburan, Pagadian City.
The remaining two suspects were arrested in Dipolog City and Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte on Tuesday.
The suspects arrested in Dipolog City yielded PHP47,600 worth of suspected shabu, while the one apprehended in Tampilisan, PHP32,500 worth of illegal drugs. (PNA)
