Zambo City retains Alert Level 1 amid spike in Covid-19 cases

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The city remains under Alert Level 1 from August 1 to 15 despite the continued increase in coronavirus disease-2019 (Covid-19) cases in recent days here.

The local government made the announcement Monday following on the pronouncement of the Department of Health (DOH), the lead agency of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

Under Alert Level 1, DOH said intrazonal and interzonal travel shall be allowed without regard to age and comorbidities.

All establishments, persons, or activities, are allowed to operate, work, or be undertaken at full on-site or venue capacity provided it is consistent with minimum public health standards, the DOH guidelines say.

However, the DOH said face to face classes for basic education shall be subject to prior approval of the Office of the President.

The City Health Office (CHO) data released on Monday showed that the active cases have climbed to 158, with 21 new cases.

Of the 158 active cases, 156 are from the community while the remaining two are authorized persons outside residence.

The health status of the active cases are: asymptomatic, 50.6 percent; mild, 38 percent; moderate, 6.9 percent; and severe, 4.5 percent.

Meanwhile, the recovered cases of Covid-19 climbed to 28,139 as 15 new recoveries were recorded representing 95.2 percent recovery rate.

The city registered 29,554 cumulative confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 with 28,139 recoveries, 1,257 deaths and 158 active cases.

The active cases of Covid-19 are distributed in 20 of this city’s 98 barangays; with three  barangays having double-digit active cases. (PNA)
