CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A PHP47.53-million flood control project will be constructed at the Dingalan Feeder Port in Dingalan, Aurora province.

To be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways–Aurora District Engineering Office, the 355-linear meter flood mitigation structure will complement the existing concrete seawall at the feeder port.

Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal said on Tuesday that the old gabion retaining walls at Dingalan Port were damaged by strong typhoons and have deteriorated over the years.

He assured the residents of fast implementation of the project.

“The construction of flood control structures that can help reduce flood impacts is among the main priorities of the agency,” Andal said in a statement.

Last year, the DPWH completed the construction of two flood control projects in Aurora worth PHP87.6 million.

These were the 1,198-linear meter Buhangin 1 flood control along the Dimanibong River in Baler, and the 438-linear meter dike along the Maria Aurora River in Barangay Dimanpudso, Maria Aurora town.

“Aurora is a coastal province and there are flood-prone especially those in low-lying villages along its major rivers,” Andal said. (PNA)
