Bicol police rounds up 5 'most wanted' criminals

LEGAZPI CITY – The regional police has rounded up five most wanted persons in Bicol under its relentless drive against criminality and violence.

Police Regional Office-Bicol (PRO-5) spokesperson, Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, on Tuesday said cops armed with court-issued warrants collared the suspects who are facing charges of child abuse, homicide, frustrated murder, attempted murder, and sexual abuse in separate operations.

"The suspects were apprehended in their respective residences by different police operatives' manhunt operations on Monday," Calubaquib said in an interview.

In Camarines Sur, one of those apprehended was Michael Dueña, 29, the No. 2 most wanted in Minalabac town who is facing a child abuse case. He was nabbed at his residence in Barangay Bagongbong of the said town.

Victor Borromeo, a senior citizen, was also arrested in Balatan town. He is the No. 9 most wanted person at the municipal level for the crime of homicide with PHP120,000 bail recommended.

In Pamplona town, apprehended was Virgilio Begueja, 55, of Zone 5, Barangay Tambo. He is listed as the No. 2 municipal most wanted person, facing criminal charges for two counts of child abuse, exploitation, and discrimination with PHP180,000 bail recommended for each case.

In Aroroy, Masbate, nabbed was Jolly Reyes, 38, who is No. 7 on the municipality's list of most wanted persons for the crime of frustrated murder with PHP200,000 bail recommended, and for trespassing with PHP3,000 bail recommended.

Meanwhile, personnel of the Jose Panganiban municipal police station in Camarines Norte arrested the town's No. 5 most wanted person identified as Christopher Bergonio, 30.

"He was taken under the custody of the police for violation of comprehensive law on firearms and ammunition under criminal case no. 21863 with no bail recommended, and warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 41, of Daet, Camarines Norte dated July 11, 2022, for attempted murder, docketed under Criminal Case No. 21842 with PHP120,000 bail recommended," Calubaquib said.
