"We thank everyone for their cooperation. We also thank the Office of the President, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and our many friends and supporters for their assistance with these arrangements," Jones said. "As we grieve, let us also celebrate a rich life – dedicated in service to this nation and its people."

Jones also asked those who wish to send flowers to instead make a contribution to one of the charitable institutions that are "close to FVR’s heart."

He is referring to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Philippine Red Cross, Hero Foundation, Inc., ABS-CBN Lingod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc., Center for Health Improvement and Life Development (CHILD) Haus, JG Patnubay Foundation, and Ramos Peace and Development Foundation, Inc. (RPDEV).

Ramos served as the country's 12th president from 1992 to 1998.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has declared July 31 to Aug. 9, 2022 as national days of mourning for Ramos.

Ramos was the second cousin of Marcos' father, the late former president Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.

Marcos Sr.'s paternal grandfather, Fabian Marcos, and Ramos' maternal grandmother, Crispina Marcos-Valdez, were siblings. (PNA)
